On this page you will find some of my favourite photos showing strange or poor Solar PV installations
Note: while at first glance these may seem extremely sub-optimal installations, customers may of course have been fully informed that output would be poor … or that the finished array may be aesthetically challenged ?
Thanks for everyone who has contributed … and if anyone has any more photos for inclusion – send them over

Shaded arrays
|
I like solar PV facades – but not sure how much of the sun this one sees?
Not sure how these modules are inteconnected … but is there any time of the day when strings are shade free?
Array faces south – but any sunlight has to get past the tall building to the south and through all the trees
More chimney shading (think sundial on the array). Safe work at height?
Shade from tree showing clear – chimney shade not obvious from this angle, but sure to be significant
No shade from the tree (yet) … but those chimneys are going to make an impact

Cabling
|
Unsupported cables swinging in the wind across sharp (metal) edge. Arc fault coming soon …
String cables laid on ground, module interconnects left dangling

What can happen when you squeeze a lot of PV onto a roof (also shade & exposed rail)
